Misuse of antibiotics puts us all at risk

Taking antibiotics when you don't need them speeds up antibiotic resistance. Antibiotic resistant infections are more complex and harder to treat. They can affect anyone, of any age, in any country.

Think twice. Seek advice

Antibiotics aren't always the answer. Always seek the advice of a healthcare professional before taking antibiotics.

Our time with antibiotics is running out

Antibiotics are in danger of losing their effectiveness due to misuse and overuse, and in many cases they aren't even needed.

With the addition of four new centers, the number of IPD-certified facilities in the cities of Zahedan, Khash, Saravan, and Mirjaveh has risen to eight.

According to the Public Relations report, Dr. Mohammad Kazem Momeni, vice chancellor for Treatment Affairs at ZAUMS, stated: “Ali Ibne Abitalib (AS) and Al-Zahra (AS) hospitals in Zahedan, along with Daro-Shefa Hospital in Mirjaveh, had received authorization to admit foreign patients a year ago and were providing services such as various surgeries, eye treatments, cochlear implantation, infertility treatments, and similar procedures to these patients.”

He noted that the tourism licenses for these three centers were renewed for another two years in November of 2024 after re-evaluation by experts from the Ministry of Health. He added: “Iranmehr Hospital in Saravan and four other non-university medical facilities, including Nabi Akram (PBUH) Hospital, Pars Hospital, Narjes Infertility Center, and Shams Clinic, have also obtained IPD (International Patients Department) licenses from the Ministry of Health after undergoing evaluation.”

Dr. Momeni emphasized: “Given the significant potential of ZAUMS for providing health tourism services, and considering the Sistan and Baluchestan Province’s proximity to neighboring countries Pakistan and Afghanistan, it is hoped that with the establishment of necessary infrastructure for attracting health tourists, ZAUMS will become one of the main hubs for health tourism in the southeast of the country.”
