Inauguration of a subspecialty colorectal clinic in Ali Ibn Abitaleb (PBUH) Tertiary Care Hospital in Zahedan, Southeast of Iran

An advanced subspecialty colorectal and laparoscopic surgery clinic was set up in Ali Ibn Abitaleb (PBUH) Hospital, Zahedan, Iran.
Dr. Farahnaz Mir, Head of Ali Ibn Abitaleb (AS) Hospital in Zahedan, said: Colorectal surgery is one of the subspecialty branches of general surgery that deals with the diagnoses and treatment of intestinal and anal canal diseases and problems, minimally invasive surgeries and obesity surgeries.
This Colorectal Clinic is the first hospital-based subspecialty clinic in the province that caters to patients with colorectal and anal problems, including cancer and benign diseases. She added: "Colorectal diseases are very common and include a wide range of benign and malignant disorders."
Dr. Mir stated: "Patients afflicted with this group of disease are treated using a combination of surgical and non-surgical treatment modalities". She continued: "Most surgeries in this clinic are performed by a subspecialty fellowship colorectal surgeon using laparoscopic procedures."
