The First Meeting of the University’s Internationalization Council was held on April 29, 2025

The first meeting of the University's Internationalization Council in the new Iranian year was held on 29 April 2025, with the presence of the University vice chancellor, the Advisor to Chancellor for International Affairs, Vice Chancellors, several directors, and relevant experts.

During this session, the meeting minutes of the fourth meeting of the University’s Internationalization Council in 2024 were reviewed. Additionally, proposals regarding the upcoming visit of H.E, the Minister of Baluchistan Province, Pakistan, to the province in July this year were discussed. The emphasis was placed on potential cooperation in the fields of malaria and dengue fever control and prevention, international health regulations concerning HIV/AIDS, and health tourism.

 

 

At the end of the session, the following items were approved for further follow-up and implementation:

  • Recruiting English-proficient staff for the Faculty of Medicine and the Consular Affairs Unit to expedite the academic processes of international students, based on the announced call, as soon as possible.
  • Reviewing and updating the proposed academic programs for international students by the respective schools.
  • Announcing the calendar for training courses and empowerment workshops for faculty members aimed at the internationalization of medical education in 2025, to be implemented by the affiliated units.
  • Planning and organizing training courses on the application of artificial intelligence in medical education and research, led by the "Working Group on Modern Educational Technologies."
  • Developing a guideline for improving the quality of education (including the use of modern teaching methods, etc.) and communicating it to affiliated schools for implementation after approval by the University Education Council.
  • Taking necessary actions to obtain licenses for new academic programs, including Medical Entomology, Tuberculosis Fellowship, Cleft Lip and Palate Surgery Fellowship, and others.
  • Completing and launching the insectarium as a prerequisite for the establishment of the Medical Entomology program, under the supervision of the University’s Vice Chancellor for Health Affairs.
  • Planning for the organization of Summer and Winter School programs by schools and research centers.
  • Submitting operational plans from various university departments to the Office of International Affairs for compilation into the University’s overall operational plan, and presenting departmental operational plans in future meetings of the University’s Internationalization Council.
  • Conducting necessary correspondence with the Office of International Cooperation at the Ministry of Health and Medical Education regarding establishing connections between the university’s research centers—especially the Health Promotion Research Center—as a potential WHO Collaborating Office.
  • Submitting reports to the Office of International Affairs and the university's Security Department for necessary correspondence to obtain authorization from relevant oversight bodies prior to the visit of foreign delegations or their representatives to university-affiliated centers and institutions in the province.
  • Holding regular meetings on health tourism, health diplomacy, and scientific diplomacy.
  • Presenting reports from the university’s affiliated faculties regarding the updates to their English websites at the next meeting of the University’s Internationalization Council.
  • Drafting and approving a guideline for recruiting faculty members with high English language proficiency to support the internationalization of the university.
  • Estimating the cost of enhancing the security of the university portal, related systems, and other IT services by the Statistics and IT Unit, and reporting it to the Vice chancellor for Management Development, Resources, and Planning for budget allocation.
  • Inviting scholars affiliated with foreign universities to join the editorial boards of the university’s journals.
  • Making necessary preparations for the upcoming visit of the Minister of Baluchistan Province, Pakistan, and his delegation, and presenting proposals for the signing of contracts or Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) in health and other areas to promote bilateral cooperation with Pakistan.

At the end of the session, Dr. Mohammadi, the chancellor of the University, emphasized the need for greater collaboration among the university’s various vice-chancellors to overcome the challenges and barriers in the path of internationalization.
