The second meeting of the Internationalization Council at Zahedan University of Medical Sciences for the year 2025 took place on Tuesday, July 29, 2025. This meeting was attended by the university chancellor, the Advisor to the chancellor for International Affairs, vice-chancellors, directors, and relevant experts.

At the outset of the session, Dr. Tabatabaei, the Advisor to the chancellor for International Affairs, provided a summary of the resolutions from the council's first meeting, which occurred earlier this year.

Subsequently, Dr. Abdolrazaghnejad, Vice-Chancellor for Treatment, along with Dr. Heidari, Head of the Health Tourism Department, reported on their department's activities and operational plans in the realm of health tourism, while also addressing the challenges they face.

Following this, Dr. Kheikha, Director of the Medical Education Development and Studies Center, offered an overview of the current educational issues affecting international students and outlined the future plans of the vice chancellor for education in this context.

At the end of the session, the following resolutions were ratified for follow-up and execution by the various departments and vice-chancellors of the university:

Continuous coordination of health tourism meetings by the Provincial Governor’s Office (acting as Head of the Provincial Health Tourism Committee) with involvement from pertinent organizations.

Reviewing the organizational structure of international-related units, including the International Affairs Office and the Health Tourism Department, and reporting the findings at the subsequent council session.

Addressing the shortage of human resources at the cleft lip and palate clinic.

Recruiting staff proficient in English from the current university workforce for consular affairs, education, and health tourism through internal announcements.

 Reviewing and updating the academic programs available to international students.

Coordinating a site visit from the National Entomology Board to assess the insectarium and initiate the establishment of the board at the university.

Following up on a memorandum of understanding with Tehran University of Medical Sciences to assist in the initiation of the medical entomology program.

Securing the necessary approvals for new educational programs such as the tuberculosis fellowship, cleft lip and palate surgery fellowship, ICU sub-specialty, etc.

Advancing the establishment of the international campus and reporting the outcomes in the next session.

Drafting guidelines for financial and non-financial compensation for faculty serving as focal points for internationalization, submitting them for approval, and sharing with relevant units.

Conducting seasonal meetings of the "Medical Education Internationalization Task Force" with the Vice-Chancellor for Education and academic directors.

Promptly announcing class schedules for new international students.

Revamping the English websites of faculties to enhance the university's SEO and global rankings

Conducting regular meetings of the International Ranking and Accreditation Committee with pertinent directors to assess the university’s ranking status

Developing and disseminating content guidelines for university websites to boost keyword optimization and visibility using SEO modules.

It is important to highlight that this meeting concluded with a strong emphasis on the necessity for collaboration among departments and vice-chancellors to fulfill the university's internationalization objectives.
