The COVID-19 pandemic has had a serious impact on people"s psychological state. It has been shown that some of the people who have been struggling the most include those who were already facing considerable challenges, such health and other frontline workers, students, people living alone, and people with pre-existing mental state conditions, are particularly affected.
And services for mental, neurological and substance use disorders are significantly disrupted. Yet there"s cause for optimism. During the World Health Assembly in May 2021, governments from round the world recognized the necessity to rescale quality mental state services in the slightest degree levels. A few countries have found new ways of providing psychological state care to their populations.
World Mental Health Day will be on October 10, 2021. The goal is to help raise mental health awareness and each of us can make a contribution to ensure that people living with mental illness can live better lives with dignity. During this year"s World mental state Day campaign, countries are expected to showcase their efforts made and encourage them to focus on positive stories as a part of their mental health activities.
World Mental Health Day also provides us, as society members, with an opportunity to take certain steps to support our mental health and that of our family and friends and to develop suitable conditions ensuring everybody"s access to mental health services.
It has been reported that one billion people live with a mental disorder and 3 million deaths from alcohol abuse occur every year, which includes one death every 40 seconds from suicide. At present billions of people are affected by covid-19 pandemic and its adverse mental effects. According to the National Mental Health Survey in 2010-2011, more than 23 percent of people aged 15-64 suffer from one or more psychiatric disorders and the rate is 31 percent for the Province of Sistan and Baluchestan.
However, relatively a small number of people can have access to quality mental health services across the world and in countries with low and medium income, over 75 percent of individuals with mental and neurological diseases and alcohol dependents receive no treatment for their plight.
