The world is going through the worst recession in decades due to COVID19, with losses in business and, consequently, in jobs and income, causing irreparable damage to the achievement of the 17 planned SDGs. On the other hand, this pandemic has "exposed" inequalities, particularly in relation to existing health care in the world. Investments are needed to prevent environmental degradation and pollution, particularly not to encourage the growing emissions of greenhouse gases, which are already known in common sense to cause global warming and promote climate change. Therefore, it is important to invest in green and healthy recreation close to all communities, with the support of Environmental Health staff and in collaboration with the International Federation for Environmental Health.
For this reason, International Federation of Environmental Health (IFEH) chooses this year`s theme for World Environmental Health Day 2021:
Prioritizing Environmental Health for healthier communities in global recovery
We encourage all regional affiliates and groups, academic staff, and national governments to launch initiatives and hold events on World Environmental Health Day.
