Today, many countries observe such a national event. Though usually observed in the spring, the date varies, depending on climate and suitable planting season.

Trees are essential to a healthy environment, helping to provide clean air and creating rich aesthetics for all. They are vital to our economy and contribute greatly to our everyday lives by providing paper for many different uses, lumber for the homes and businesses, maple syrup, fruits and nuts, decorations during the holidays, they add beauty to attract new business and tourism to our great state, as well as numerous other benefits.
Trees are considered sacred in the Iranian culture, which is why Iranians celebrate Arbor Day by spending an entire week in tree planting events just a week before the Iranian New Year and the beginning of the spring. National Arbor Day or Tree Planting Day was marked on Thursday, third of March 2018 across Iran. Celebrating Arbor Day is a great opportunity to promote tree planting and tree care within our community.
The day is an occasion for people from all ages and social classes to pick up a shovel and show they care for all things arboreal. Every year, just before the Persian New Year, millions of Iranians plant trees for a week from March 5 marking the occasion and to hail the coming of spring.
The week in Zahedan University of Medical Sciences began with a gathering attended by the Director General of the Forests, Ranges, and Watershed management Organization, Director General of Agricultural Jihad Organization, religious figures and community members in ZAUMS Conference Hall. The event followed by planting trees in the ZAUMS main campus yard.
The event was planned to draw public attention to the importance of trees for the environment. The students and Community Health Volunteers also learn more about the value of natural resources and the importance of their protection. A total of 4000 saplings provided by Forests, Ranges, and Watershed management Organization were planted by the participants from different folks of life on this occasion.
