Dr. Saman Sargazi, serving as an Assistant Professor in the Biochemistry Department at Zahedan University of Medical Sciences, received the distinguished title of "Outstanding Young Researcher" from the Basic Medical Sciences Committee during the 30th Razi Research Festival in 2024. This esteemed recognition was bestowed upon him in acknowledgment of his exceptional research achievements, which include the publication of 150 scientific articles in prestigious international journals, accumulating over 4,000 citations, and achieving an H-index of 30 on Scopus. Dr. Sargazi specializes in nanobiochemistry and molecular biology, with a particular emphasis on the development of optimized nanocarriers and their effectiveness in targeted therapies for chronic diseases, especially cancer.

The Razi Research Festival, recognized as Iran's foremost scientific gathering in the realm of medical sciences, is held annually under the auspices of the Ministry of Health and Medical Education. This event not only serves as a platform for scientific accolades but also stands as a testament to the unwavering dedication of Iranian researchers and scientists in pushing the boundaries of knowledge and technological advancement in the medical field. Dr. Akhoundzadeh, the Deputy Minister of Research and Technology, underscored the recognition of 12 outstanding researchers in the individual category, along with 25 universities, innovation centers, and knowledge-based enterprises in the institutional category. He pointed out that essential elements such as strategic planning, skilled human resources, sufficient funding, a vibrant private sector, and active engagement in international scientific communities are pivotal for fostering scientific progress and development in Iran. Nevertheless, he emphasized that the paramount factor remains the acknowledgment and celebration of scientists, which is facilitated through events like the Razi Festival, attended by high-ranking government officials.

Dr. Akhoundzadeh emphasized that the 30th Razi Festival placed a greater emphasis on quality rather than quantity. This year, the number of recipients was reduced to 37, down from 68 in the previous year, indicating a more stringent selection process aligned with national standards. Among approximately 400 applicants, the judging committee assessed submissions in three areas: clinical and health sciences, basic medical sciences, and health technology.

The award ceremony for the 30th Razi Research Festival took place on February 17, 2024, at the Imam Khomeini Auditorium of Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences in Tehran, with the attendance of the President of Iran and the Minister of Health and Medical Education. This occasion highlighted the nation's dedication to promoting excellence in medical research and innovation.
