The specialized clinic for cleft lip and palate at Al-Zahra (SA) Hospital in Zahedan has successfully delivered medical services to 100 children within the initial two months of its dedicated operation, instilling new hope for their futures.

As reported by the Public Relations Department, Dr. Ali Abdulrazaghnejad, the chancellor for treatment affairs, remarked during his visit to the cleft lip and palate clinic at Al-Zahra (SA) Hospital: "This center has provided treatment to 100 children in the two months since its official and standardized opening, allowing many of them to reintegrate into a normal social life."

Regarding the medical procedures conducted since 2016, he stated: "To date, over 1,186 surgeries for cleft lip and palate have been executed in the province, thanks to the collaboration of charitable organizations and expert teams, greatly enhancing the quality of life for these children."

He further remarked: "The cleft lip and palate clinic, by employing specialized teams in surgery, speech therapy, orthodontics, psychotherapy, and clinical care, which includes audiology services, stands as one of the rare comprehensive and multidisciplinary centers in the region that provides extensive services to patients.

Dr. Abdulrazaghnejad emphasized one of the clinic’s distinctive attributes: "The voluntary and continuous collaboration of Professor Nasser Nadjmi, a globally recognized surgeon and faculty member at the University of Antwerp in Belgium, is of immense value. His regular visits to Zahedan allow him to perform surgeries at no cost and to impart his knowledge and expertise to the treatment team."

It is important to mention that during this visit, the head of the department delivered a report regarding the patient treatment process, the actions undertaken, and the equipment and specialized requirements.

Additionally noteworthy: as part of the ongoing program, the vice chancellor for treatment affairs, together with Dr. Firoozkoohi-Moghadam, the Director of Treatmentvisited the cleft lip and palate ward as well as the operating room at Al-Zahra (SA) Hospital. They underscored the importance of enhancing service quality, recognizing challenges, and strategizing to bolster the clinic’s medical infrastructure.
