The chancellor of Zahedan University of Medical Sciences announced the university’s preparedness to employ all available resources in collaboration with the Iranian Cancer Charity Institute (MACSA) to prevent, facilitate early diagnosis, and provide treatment for cancer patients.

As per the Public Relations report, Dr. Mohammad Hassan Mohammadi, the Chancellor of ZAUMS, expressed during a joint meeting with the CEO of MACSA that the university is ready to leverage its scientific, technical, and social resources to work collaboratively with the charity in the areas of cancer control, prevention, and treatment.

Highlighting that cancer is not a typical illness but one that encompasses extensive familial and social aspects, he stated: "If we can attain early diagnosis via screening, we can diminish both the incidence and prevalence of cancer in the province."

Dr. Mohammadi emphasized that MACSA, being a charitable organization, has the potential to significantly contribute to the provision of supportive and palliative care. Through the establishment of a thorough cancer patient management program, it can effectively tackle various concerns faced by patients and their families.

Dr. Jahangiri, the CEO of MACSA, additionally stated: "The University of Medical Sciences serves as the main guardian of public health, and we strongly assert that any initiative related to cancer—ranging from prevention to treatment and supportive care—must be executed under the direct oversight of the university."

Emphasizing the distinct geographical and cultural traits of Sistan and Baluchestan Province, he characterized the area as possessing significant potential in the health sector. He further stated: "Experience has demonstrated that by effectively utilizing these potentials, we can develop a successful, locally tailored model for comprehensive cancer patient management—one that encompasses not only treatment but also prevention, early detection, education, public awareness, and enhancement of patients' quality of life."

Reflecting on the four-year partnership between MACSA and Qom University of Medical Sciences, Dr. Jahangiri stated: "Cancer impacts every aspect of human health, and its treatment necessitates a comprehensive approach. We strive to involve all pertinent organizations and institutions to guarantee that both patients and their families obtain cohesive support."

He elaborated: "In instances where there are deficiencies, our institute intervenes, adopting a holistic strategy to implement essential measures across all domains—from prevention and screening to palliative and supportive care—leveraging local resources in alignment with the National Cancer Control Program."

The CEO of MACSA emphasized that effective and thorough cancer management extends beyond mere diagnosis and treatment; it must also address the psychological, social, spiritual, and physical needs of patients.

He remarked that the primary objective of the charity is to alleviate the burden of disease, prevent premature deaths, and avert new cancer cases and disabilities resulting from the illness. He further stated: “All services offered by this institute are provided at no cost, and we aspire that through these initiatives, not only will the financial strain of cancer on families be lessened, but the quality of life for patients in this province will also see improvement.”

Engineer Bameri, the Director of Non-Governmental Organizations at ZAUMS, emphasized the province's rich cultural and ethnic diversity, as well as the significant contribution of the public to social initiatives. He underscored the necessity of involving religious leaders and prominent individuals in the execution of the program.

Additionally, it is important to mention that the vice-chancellors of Zahedan University of Medical Sciences expressed their willingness to collaborate in their specific fields of expertise during the meeting.
