Intensifying the implementation of recommended public health measures in schools amid the spread of omicron variant

On Nov. 26, the World Health Organization named the Omicron variant of the coronavirus a new variant of concern. The variant was first identified in South Africa and Botswana, and has been detected in at least 110 nations.

On Nov. 26, the World Health Organization named the Omicron variant of the coronavirus a new variant of concern. The variant was first identified in South Africa and Botswana, and has been detected in at least 110 nations. 

 

Because of the rapid spread of the omicron mutant virus across the world, the oversight of environmental health experts in Zahedan University of Medical Sciences in public places and schools has been intensified.

 

According to Public Relations - Qamar Shahriari, Director of Environmental and Occupational Health Department, Zahedan University of Medical Sciences, mentioned that: "As a result of the spread of the omicron mutant virus in the world, we have intensified the school inspections carried out by environmental health officer."

The director of the Department of Environmental and Occupational Health of Zahedan University of Medical Sciences continued: More than 100 occupational health inspectors of Zahedan University of Medical Sciences monitored 1,730 schools for the implementation of health protocols.

She said: "During thee the supervision process, the school principals were advised on social distancing, the use of masks, establishing proper ventilation in the classrooms, the correct arrangement of chairs according to the instructions and the correct disinfection of classrooms and the presence of hand sanitizer and liquid soap in schools."

She continued: "In order to prevent the spread of the omicron virus among school children, all families and school officials, are urged to follow the protocols and in case of any symptoms, students should abstain from attending thee school."

 

According to the latest decisions announced by Iran"s Coronavirus Taskforce, students have returned to classrooms for the start of the new school year in September this year. All schools should strictly follow the health regulations so that the students are protected.
