Zahedan University of Medical Sciences is conducting a COVID-19 vaccination campaign to improve COVID-19 vaccine coverage among the target population

Vaccinations are the only way to end this pandemic. As of November 18, 2021, nearly 7.6 billion COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered worldwide. Vaccination rates across countries and the return to a more normal life are still major topics around the globe. But with entering the second winter season of the pandemic, the tracking of coronavirus cases and deaths and the emergence of potentially perilous new variants of the virus will probably become more prominent again.

In order to improve two doses COVID-19 vaccine coverage among the target population in the areas covered by Zahedan University of Medical Sciences, a campaign dubbed "I also got COVID-19 vaccine" will be conducted from 16 November to 6 December 2021.

According to the public relations report - Dr. Seyed Mehdi Tabatabaei, Vice Chancellor for Health of Zahedan University of Medical Sciences, addressing an inauguration ceremony that was held at Noor Al-Huda religious school in Zahedan, southeast of Iran, stated that the this Campaign was launched to improve vaccination coverage and to increase the access of people to COVID-19 vaccine services, using inter-sectoral cooperation and community participation strategies.

He added that "As part of COVID-19 vaccination campaign, temporary vaccination stations will be set up on the outskirts of the cities and mobile vaccination teams will be deployed to improve the access for underprivileged people".

Dr. Tabatabaei described another intervention in this Campaign which focuses on vaccine rumor management and added: "In this intervention, an Infodemic Management Room will be set up in cooperation with relevant stakeholder to address rumors, myths and misconceptions about the vaccine and information about the vaccine are done."

Zahedan University of Medical Sciences Vice Chancellor for Health added: "We hope to see an increase in vaccination coverage in a short time by using the capacity of influential community members and with the cooperation of "Facilitation Offices", as part of community-based NGOS located on the outskirts of the city and with the participation of Community Health Volunteers (CHVs)."
