Nadjmi Charity Foundation and Zahedan University of Medical Sciences Inked an Agreement to Establish an Excellent Services Center for the Care of Patients with Congenital Anomalies

An agreement for the establishment of an excellent center for the care of patients with congenital anomalies (cleft lip and palate) in Al-Zahra (SA) Hospital, Zahedan, Iran, was signed by Nadjmi Charity Foundation and Zahedan University of Medical Sciences in January 2024.
Nadjmi Charity Foundation is an independent charitable foundation which has public interest status, with more than 20 year of charity work in Africa, India and south East Asia, and Iran. Its mission is to provide free-of-charge surgery services to children with cleft deformity (cleft lip and cleft palate) and to enhance local capacities via training local surgeons in providing pediatric surgery services and promoting clef care related research.
According to public relations report, Dr. Habib Ghaznavi, the Chancellor of Zahedan University of Medical Sciences, said: “In order to organize and benefit from the help of health philanthropists, an agreement was signed with the Nadjmi Charity Foundation to establish an Excellent Services Center for the Care of Patients with Congenital Anomalies in Al-Zahra (SA) Hospital, Zahedan, Iran”.
He continued: “The funding for implementing the project will be allocated by Zahedan University of Medical Sciences in partnership with the Nadjmi Charity Foundation, the Provincial Management and Planning Organization, and the Department of Otorhinolaryngology”.
Dr. Ghaznavi continued: “In this center, surgeries, other medical and rehabilitation services including orthodontics, speech therapy, audiology and mental health services will be provided to patients who undergo cleft lip and cleft palate surgery and other congenital abnormalities”.
He added: “The center also planned will also provide cleft lip and cleft palate surgery training and other educational activities for native and non-native surgeons and other specialists”.
Dr. Nasser Nadjmi, a specialist in reconstructive surgery and the founder of the Nadjmi Charity Foundation, said: “The mission of the Nadjmi Charity Foundation is to provide free surgical services for children with congenital anomalies, as well as to strengthen capacity building by training native and non-native surgeons and promoting research activities related to special care”.
He continued: “The establishment of the excellent care service center for patients with congenital anomalies in Zahedan is a big step towards the treatment of children with congenital anomalies, especially in low-income families”.
He added: “During the past few years of our activity in Zahedan, more than 100 patients with congenital malformation (cleft palate and cleft lip) have received free-of-charge surgeries”.
