The first meeting of the Internationalization Council of the Zahedan University of Medical Sciences (ZAUMS) was held for this year on Monday, 12/06/2023, with the presence of the Chancellor and vice chancellors of the university , a group of managers and a number of heads of schools and deans of hospitals.

The first meeting of the Internationalization Council of the Zahedan University of Medical Sciences (ZAUMS) was held for this year on Monday, 12/06/2023, with the presence of the Chancellor and vice chancellors of the university , a group of managers and a number of heads of schools and deans of hospitals.
At the beginning of this session, Dr. Seyyed Mehdi Tabatabaei, the Adviser to Chancellor for international affairs, reviewed the previous session's approval and reported on the measures taken.
The university chancellor, while appreciating the actions taken regarding international education, said: "Fortunately, in the past year, great steps have been taken towards internationalization of medical education at Zahedan University of Medical Sciences."
Dr. Habib Ghaznavi stated that it is necessary to have a focal point for internationalization of education in each school affiliated with ZAUMS and emphasized the potential and capacity of Zahedan University of Medical Sciences to improve and expand its global presence in international scientific conferences, research collaborations with other countries, and academics and student exchange with other universities.
Dr. Ghaznavi also emphasized the need for holding joint public health workshops, such as the Dengue Fever, for empowering healthcare workers in the region.
He also mentioned the high potential and capacity of Sistan and Baluchestan province in the field of health tourism, stating that Alzahra (AS) Eye Hospital, with its specialized workforce and advanced equipment, can be very successful in attracting health tourists.
At the end, the following items were approved:
- Follow-up on obtaining health tourism license for Alzahra (AS) Eye Hospital.
- Negotiation and contract signing with licensed health tourism companies to facilitate the admission process of foreign patients to Alzahra (AS) Eye Hospital.
- Follow-up for accepting patients from Zahedan University of Medical Sciences to use robotic surgery services at Jinnah Hospital in Karachi, Pakistan.
- Follow-up for deploying a radiation therapy specialist to attend a robotic surgery course at Jinnah Hospital in Karachi, Pakistan.
- Reviewing tuition fees and announcing modified tuition fees to be approved by the university Board of Trustees.
- Follow-up for obtaining the permission form Ministry of Health for admission of for foreign student's to the vacant specialty program places in the Zahedan University of Medical Sciences.
Deploying selected medical students to participate in the elective rotation program at Agha Khan University in Pakistan after approval by the ZAUMS Board of Executives.
Deploying entomology experts to attend theaedesentomology training course in Karachi, Pakistan, after approval by the ZAUMS Board of Executives
Nominating interested professors, staff, and students for short-term courses or sabbatical programs to regional countries
Follow-up for obtaining necessary licenses for importing and exporting medical equipment
- Holding a coordination meeting to facilitate the import of equipment and medical supplies through the Pishin Border Market, with the presence of Dr. Shahraki, the Deputy Governor General of Economic Affairs, and Dr. Hassanzadeh, the Director General of Provincial Industry, Mine and Trade Organization.
