The first meeting of the Internationalization Council of Zahedan University of Medical Sciences (ZAUMS) was held on Monday 04/06/1401 with the presence of the Chancellor and vice chancellors of the university, a group of managers and deans of faculties affiliated with ZAUMS.

The first meeting of the Internationalization Council of Zahedan University of Medical Sciences (ZAUMS) was held on Monday 04/06/2022 with the presence of the Chancellor and vice chancellors of the university, a group of managers and deans of faculties affiliated with ZAUMS.
Dr. Habib Ghaznavi, Chancellor of the university, pointing out that strengthening the scientific discourse is the first step towards the internationalization of the university, emphasized on the importance of internationalization and addressing the existing challenges, asked the members of the Internationalization Council of the university to work proactively in developing plans to achieve internationalization goals.
He stated that monitoring the ranking of the university at the national and international level is one of the duties of this council and asked for efforts to monitor and propose areas for intervention to improve this ranking that will help ZAUMS to be recognized on an international scale.
He pointed out that presenting the activities of various vice-chancellors on the university website will lead to the better introduction of this university at the national and international level. Dr. Ghaznavi stated that enriching and updating the information on the Persian and English website of the university is one of the important duties and responsibilities of the members of the council and emphasized on the use of all the available capacities of the university for the proper implementation of the internationalization plan.
Dr. Seyed Mehdi Tabatabaei, Adviser to Chancellor for International Affairs, also emphasized the necessity of internationalization of the university and called for the spread of the culture of internationalization in all university vice-chancelleries in order to witness the quantitative and qualitative improvement of the university"s performance.
He considered internationalization as an opportunity to improve the university"s performance and highlighted health diplomacy which is the intersection of public health and international relations as the main strategy for promoting internationalization of universities in the region.
He added: Holding regular meetings of the Internationalization Council with the presence of all the Vice Chancellors and relevant officials, use of existing capacities such as the Representative Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Sistan and Baluchistan Province, seeking advice from Iranian consulates in the countries of the region and international cultural institutions, introduction of the university"s capacities in the form of booklets, brochures and updating the university"s English website, developing a Multisector Health Diplomacy Task Force (MHDTF) headed by the Governor General of Sistan and Balouchestan Province, workshops on national and international etiquette protocols, holding grant writing workshops, are among some of measures that should to be considered for effective Internationalization of university.
In the continuation of this meeting, which was held on Monday, the 27 June 2022, managers and vice-chancellors of the university discussed the challenges and issues related to internationalization and offered suggestions to address those issues.
