The first meeting of the University Internationalization Council was held on April 8, 2024

The first meeting of the Internationalization Council of Universities in the year 2024 was held on April 8, 2024. The session was attended by the members of the executive board including: Advisor to the ZAUMS Chancellor for International Affairs, Vice Chancellors for education, treatment affairs, research and technology, students and cultural affairs, treatment affairs and financial managers.

At the beginning of the session, Dr. Tabatabaei, Advisor to the ZAUMS Chancellor for International Affairs, highlighted some of the university's internationalization activities in the year 2023, including the active participation of Zahedan University of Medical Sciences in the 28th Technical Meeting of the member countries of G5 commenced in Tehran on 13 February 2024, the 27th Expert Meeting of the Group5 Member Countries, the Iran Expo 2024, the First International Exhibition of Iran's Export Opportunities to Pakistan, Chabahar, Iran, January 2024, The joint meeting of the medical universities' in the south and southeast regions of the country on health tourism held in Shiraz, Iran, November 2023, the Global Health Security Summit, Islamabad, Pakistan, January 2024, the AMEE 2023 Annual Conference 26-30 August 2023.

The visit of high ranking UNICEF delegation to health centers and hospitals in Zahedan to improve infant health in Sistan and Baluchestan province, the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Nadjmi Charity Foundation and ZAUMS to establish a center for excellent care for patients with congenital abnormalities, the presence of two faculty members from Zahedan University of Medical Sciences among the top 2% of scientists in the world, and the conduct of Lecture Sessions and Book Clubs in English were among other achievements during 2023.

Following the discussion and review of the existing challenges, the following measures were decided to be pursued:

1. Signing a contract with the Islamic Azad University for accommodating international students.

2. Preparation and finalization of the academic calendar and curriculum specifically for international students.

3. Preparation and publication of the International Student Guide 2024 based on the finalized calendar and curriculum of the current semester for international students.

4. Determining the method of conducting the Persian language course for international students in collaboration with Sistan and Balouchestan University.

5. Planning for the registration of international students in the Medical School.

6. Setting up a Help Desk at the Medical School to assist international students with the help of student members of the International Language and Culture Center as part of student work.

7. Correspondence with the university's IT department regarding internet access for International students.

8. Procurement of up-to-date text books and other basic sciences resources for Central Library.

9. Preparation of bilingual signboards for the central library of the university.

10. Pursuing the opening of foreign currency accounts for the payment of tuition fees by international students.

11. Planning for the Opening Ceremony and welcoming Reception of international students with the presence of senior provincial and national authorities.

12. Planning for an induction session to inform international students on campus life and educational rules and regulations.

12. Determining the final medical service tariffs after the announcement of the 2024 tariffs for inclusion on the English websites of licensed IPD hospitals and updating the English websites of hospitals.
