The sixth meeting of the internationalization council of the Zahedan University of Medical Sciences (ZAUMS) was held on Tuesday, 31/01/2023, with the presence of the Chancellor and vice chancellors of the university , a group of managers and a number of heads of schools.

At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. Tabatabaei, the Adviser to Chancellor for international affairs, presented the report of the visit of ZAUMS delegation to Karachi, Pakistan and participation the I.R. of Solo Iran Exhibition held in Karachi. He highlighted some of the achievements during the visit including: participating in the meeting of the Consulate General of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Karachi, and meeting with Dr. Azra Fazal Pechuho" Minister Health & Population Welfare, Sindh Government, meeting with board of directors of Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Education Center and hospital, visit to Cyberknife and Robotic Surgery Department at Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Education Center and hospital, visiting Dow University of Health Sciences Simulation Center.

Dr. Ghaznavi, Chancellor of the university pointed out the strengths and weaknesses of health systems both in Iran and Pakistan and considered participation in the exhibition as an opportunity to identify these weaknesses and strengths and use the capacity of the two countries to boost cooperation in order to address common public health problems in the region.

Then Dr. Zahra Keikha, the Director of Supervision and Accreditation of Treatment Affairs Department of the university, noted the challenges of health tourism and the activities carried out in this regard.

At the end the following items were approved:

• To draft MoUs based on the subjects discussed during the meetings with authorities from Health Department of Sindh, AKU, and JMPC.
• Planning to send entomology experts from ZAUMS to Sindh to complete a training course on entomological care of dengue fever vectors,
• Planning to hold a training workshop on diagnosis, treatment and nursing care of dengue fever by experienced specialist doctors in Sindh for doctors and nurses of ZAUMS,
• Coordination a visit of the expert team of the Sindh Ministry of Health to the thalassemia control program and the prenatal diagnosis laboratory (PND) of ZAUMS, following up on the admission of patients from ZAUMS who need the robotic surgery services to be offered by JPMC
• Planning to use the experiences of Aga Khan and Dow Universities in Karachi, to upgrade the medical education simulation center of the university and invite the relevant professors
• Planning to conduct joint research projects with the universities of the Sindh Province of Pakistan
• Planning to deploy medical students from ZAUMS who are preferably fluent in Urdu or English language to take elective rotation courses at Aga Khan University
• Inviting academic staff members of Aga Khan University, Health Ministry of Sindh State and Jinnah Hospital to participate in the International Congress of Covid-19 Experiences, which will be held in May n Zahedan
• To develop a prospectus containing detailed information for international students for the academic year 2023-2024
• To shortlist the medical supplies and equipment produced in Iran for export to be sent to the Pakistan Healthcare Devices Association
• Preparing a list of medical supplies and equipment needed by the University of Medical Sciences for import from Pakistan to be sent to the Pakistan Healthcare Devices Association
• To hold a special meeting regarding the challenges of health tourism in Al-Zahra eye Hospital (S) with the presence of the head of the hospital and relevant officials
